Gale is mine, I am his.
I hear the girls talk about him a lot.
Gale won’t have trouble finding a wife. He’s good-looking, he’s strong enough to handle work in the mines, and he can hunt.
You can tell by the way girls whisper about him when he walks by in school that they want him.
It was the first deer I’ve seen in a year. Now I have nothing
Everyone so tiny next to him
#LOOK #he’s trying so hard to not watch #not just because of what’s happening #but because he promised himself that he wouldn’t #it was his big master plan #and he probably went around the hob telling everyone about how they should boycott the games #and they’d just look at him with pity thinking he was grieving for katniss
I just… I just miss him. And hate being so alone. Does he miss me? He must
”They’re not in District Twelve?” I repeat. As if saying it will somehow fend off the truth.
”Katniss,” Gale says softly.
I recognize that voice. It’s the same one he uses to approach wounded animals before he delivers a deathblow. I instinctively raise hand to block his words but he catches it and holds on tightly.
”Don’t,” I whisper.
But Gale is not one to keep secrets from me. “Katniss, there is no District Twelve.”
Yeah, I know.
Delly was sitting in the infirmary part of District Thirteen, a place she didn’t even know existed until now. It had been a frantic couple of hours, the bombing had completely caused all sound to cease in her ears, running away from the extreme bright lights of the explosions and amongst the screams and cries, she had managed to stay alive. Not only that, but her brother was here, safe, too. A sigh dropped from her mouth, relieved to some degree but still tense over everything that happened. Tears had spilled and dried, eyes puffed red as she tiredly pulled the dull, grey shirt over herself.
“Gale?” She couldn’t believe her eyes when she finally saw someone she knew; they didn’t know each other well, maybe talked on the one occasion but it was impossible not to know him when most of her friends talked about him half of the time. “Do you know where my parents are?” she asked with a shaky voice.
“I’m sorry, Delly,” he whispered under his breath. “District Twelve is gone. And your parents, too.”
“They’re not in District Twelve?” I repeat. As if saying it will somehow fend off the truth.
Maybe Gale was the strongest. The one who did the most help when Katniss needed it. Maybe Gale Hawthorne loved the girl on fire the most, that he had the courage to let her go. To let her be.
All we know is soldier Gale is fighting for revenge. Revenge from the capitol, revenge for taking away all the beauty in his life. People say he lost someone, and it’s for her that he’s fighting.MADGE.
